Fire Safety Review

Following a review of our fire safety policies and processes, we are making a number of changes affecting properties in our ‘six-block’ flats. For customers living in this type of property please note the following information:


Door Modifications to Flats in Six-Blocks

To help prevent the spread of any potential fire within the communal hallways, we will be completing the following work to each property in all six-blocks:

  • Fit an overhead door-closer to the front door of each flat.

  • Make changes to the glazing in the front door to ensure that this is fire-safe.


We intend to complete all of the necessary works by 31 December 2019.


Frequently Asked Questions

Why is this being completed?

Following a review we have noticed that the exterior doors do not satisfy the regulations stated in the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. The alterations will help ensure your home meets the required standards.


How long will the work take?

Carrying out the work to each property should be completed during one visit and should take approximately 3-4 hours.


Will I need to be at home while the work is being carried out?

You will need to allow access for our contractor to complete the work.


Is this compulsory?

EPIC has a legal duty to comply with all current health and safety regulations.


What are the benefits?

After the work has been completed the risk of a fire spreading and damage caused by fire and smoke within the blocks will be reduced. It will also increase the time for the evacuation of the premises in the event of a fire.


What are the negatives?

As mentioned above you will need to allow access for our contractor to complete the work.


Increase in scheduled inspections

We will be increasing the frequency of our scheduled inspections of all six-blocks. We will soon begin carrying out these on a monthly basis, to check that communal areas are free from tripping hazards and to identify any items which could be flammable or cause an obstruction in the event of a fire.

Reception Closed For Training
