Award win for film celebrating 100 years of social housing in Stoke-on-Trent

EPIC is celebrating after a film we helped create to mark 100 years of social housing in Stoke-on-Trent won a prestigious national award.

The film, 100 Years of Social Housing, was named Best Celebratory Film at the EVCOM Clarion Awards 2026. Produced by Reels in Motion, the film was created in partnership with EPIC, Brighter Futures, Honeycomb Group and Stoke-on-Trent City Council as part of the city’s Centenary celebrations.

The award-winning film explores the people, stories and communities that have shaped social housing across Stoke-on-Trent over the last century. Through a blend of archive footage, residents’ personal experiences and conversations about the future, it highlights the role social housing has played in supporting generations of local people.

The film was launched in November 2025 and brought together organisations with a shared commitment to providing homes and supporting communities across the city.

At the time of the film’s launch, Tracey Johnson, Chief Executive at EPIC, said:

“This collaboration between our four organisations is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when we work together with a shared purpose. The video marking 100 years of social housing is not just a celebration of the past, but a testament to the resilience, innovation, and community spirit that have shaped generations. By joining forces, we honour the legacy of social housing while inspiring future progress in creating homes that truly transform lives.”

Announcing the award, Reels in Motion said the Clarion Awards celebrate films that use creativity, craft and influence to drive meaningful and measurable impact for people, communities and the planet. The production company described the recognition as particularly special because of the positive impact the project has had in telling the story of social housing in Stoke-on-Trent.

The award is a fantastic achievement for everyone involved and recognises the power of partnership working in telling the story of social housing’s past, present and future. It also shines a spotlight on the lasting contribution social housing continues to make in helping people access safe, secure and affordable homes across our city.
