EPIC Housing is committed to adopting the “Together With Tenants” Charter, which has been produced by the National Housing Federation, in consultation with involved tenants from across the country.

Adopting the Charter shows our clear commitment to empowering our tenants, by:

  • Establishing meaningful resident engagement in our decision making;
  • Working collaboratively with residents to design mechanisms for oversight;
  • Supporting residents to hold EPIC Housing to account; and
  • Being open to the challenges that all of this brings.

The aim is to strengthen relationships between residents and landlords, focusing on these 7 points:

  • Relationships: Housing Associations will treat all residents with respect. Relationships between us will be based on openness, honesty and transparency.
  • Communication: Tenants will receive clear, accessible and timely information on the issues that matter to them, important information about their homes and community, how EPIC is working to address problems, how EPIC is run, and information about performance on key issues.
  • Voice and influence: EPIC will seek and value the views of tenants, and will use this information to inform decisions. Every individual tenant will feel listened to on the issues that matter to them and will feel they can speak without fear.
  • Accountability: Collectively, tenants will work in partnership with EPIC to independently scrutinise and hold EPIC to account for the decisions that affect the quality of their homes and services.
  • Quality: Tenants can expect their homes to be good quality, well maintained, safe and well managed.
  • When things go wrong: Tenants will have simple and accessible routes for raising issues, making complaints and seeking redress.
  • Equality, Diversity and Inclusion: EPIC will be inclusive and seek views from all groups. Approaches to tenant involvement will be inclusive by engaging with tenants from a range of backgrounds and experiences. Consultations with tenants will include outreach to underrepresented communities, including through targeted communications.
