Our flats in the Bentilee area were originally built in the 1950s and transferred to us from Stoke-on-Trent City Council in 1998. Since then we have undertaken a major programme of property acquisition and refurbishment including new kitchens, bathrooms, boilers, roofs, windows and rewires to bring the properties up to modern standards. We have since acquired over 450 properties and we work closely with the Empty Homes Teams in neighbouring local authorities.
Our in-house skills and ability to access grant enables us to renovate niche properties and bring empty homes back in to use. We have acquired 4 properties constructed before 1900 including a 1-bedroom property believed to be constructed around 1750. The property had been empty since 2012 and was in poor condition and failed to meet current housing standards. The remedial works have included upgrading the staircase, raising the roof to increase the heights inside, new floors, damp proofing, strengthening the structure and improving the energy efficiency of the property, raising the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating from D to C.
We also own a number of commercial and office units. Our total property portfolio is valued at around £42m.
