Safeguarding

Safeguarding Children

Child abuse is any behaviour which harms a person under the age of 18. This can include physical, sexual and emotional abuse and neglecting a child’s needs. It can take place in any setting.

We will always take action where we suspect a child is being abused. Initially, we will pass any information on to the relevant local authority, and, where appropriate, the police. We then work closely with these agencies to play our part in keeping children safe.

If you know of a young person who is at risk (including yourself), you can:

  • Contact us in confidence to tell us about it – phone us on 01782 252575 or email us at mailbox@epichousing.co.uk. We may have an obligation to pass on the information to the council and/or the police.
  • Contact Stoke-on-Trent City Council’s Safeguarding Team either through their website, by phone on 01782 235100 or by email at SRT.referrals@stoke.gov.uk.
  • Contact the Police – in an emergency you should call 999. In a non-emergency you should call 101.

Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults

Abuse to a person aged 18 or older can take many different forms including:

  • Psychological
  • Physical
  • Sexual
  • Financial or material
  • Neglect and acts of omission
  • Discriminatory

When we receive information that a vulnerable adult is being abused, we will pass this on to the relevant local authority, and where appropriate, the police. We continue to work with these agencies to ensure we play our part in keeping adults safe.
