Hot weather advice and support for tenants

The hot weather is here – some simple steps can help you stay safe and keep your home comfortable.

Keeping your home cool

There are several ways to reduce indoor temperatures during hot weather:

  • Keep curtains and blinds closed during the day to block out direct sunlight
  • Open windows during the evening and overnight when the air is cooler – if it is safe to do so
  • Drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated
  • Avoid strenuous activity and spending long periods in direct sunlight during the hottest part of the day

Support is available

Hot weather can affect people differently, particularly older residents, those with existing health conditions and anyone who may be vulnerable.

If you are finding the heat difficult to manage or need extra support, please get in touch. We are here to help and can talk through any concerns you may have.

Looking out for each other

At EPIC, we know strong communities are built on kindness and support. Please check in on neighbours, friends and family members who may be elderly, isolated or vulnerable during periods of hot weather.

A simple phone call, offering to collect shopping or making sure someone has enough water can make a real difference.

Together, we can help everyone stay safe, healthy and connected throughout the summer.
