Safety Awareness Day Success

EPIC Housing in Bentilee recently hosted a successful Safety Awareness Day on Thursday, April 18, aimed at educating tenants and the public on crucial fire safety measures.

Aico, a supplier of smoke alarms for the housing association, showcased their mobile training and demonstration unit, providing invaluable insights into fire alarm systems. Alongside them, a PCSO from Staffordshire Police, and Community Engagement Officers from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue, contributed to the event.

The primary focus was to raise awareness about fire safety, emphasising the significance of regular testing of fire alarms and introducing attendees to various alarm types. Additionally, information was shared about Safe and Well checks offered by the local fire service, and attendees had the opportunity to address community concerns with the PCSO. Gareth Butler, Regional Specification Manager for Aico also conducted a CPD training session for EPIC Housing staff.

Gareth said “Resident engagement is so crucial to any project a housing provider is undertaking, particularly where it involves fire safety works. It’s imperative residents understand the life safety devices in their homes and how to test them. It was a fantastic day involving numerous stakeholders and all involved will take away some knowledge from the event. Aico are committed to promoting best practice, engaging with our communities and delivering safer homes”.

EPIC Housing extends gratitude to Gareth from Aico, PCSO Jones from Staffordshire Police, and Andy and Adam from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue for their participation and support in making the event a success.
