EPIC Supports Literacy in Stoke-on-Trent Through National Literacy Trust Partnership

As part of our ongoing commitment to making a positive impact in the communities we serve, EPIC is now working alongside the National Literacy Trust in Stoke-on-Trent to help raise awareness of the importance of literacy.

We have recently launched several activities to encourage reading and make books more accessible to everyone. At our Bentilee office, we’ve created a Community Bookshelf in reception, where anyone can pick up a book to enjoy at home. The bookshelf is packed with books for children and young adults and is available to anyone, not just EPIC tenants.

We’ve also embraced the Take 10 to Read campaign, encouraging local children to take ten minutes out of their day to read and boost their mental wellbeing. On Mental Health Awareness Day, books were placed around our office for people to find and keep.

These activities have been driven by our colleague Mel Allman, who recently became a National Literacy Trust Champion. Mel is also planning regular Storytelling Sessions, with the first Halloween-themed event set to take place later this week.

We would like to express our gratitude to Mel for her dedication and hard work towards this initiative and we look forward to continuing our work with the National Literacy Trust to improve literacy and help individuals get the most out of life.
